Postdoctoral Position in Bone & Cardiovascular Research

A 2-year postdoctoral position is available from May 2011 in an Austrian Science Fund (FWF)-funded project in the laboratory of Prof. Reinhold G. Erben at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Dept. of Biomedical Sciences.

The project employs a novel transgenic mouse model to dissect the role of receptor activator of nuclear factor êB ligand (RANKL) from hematopoietic and mesenchymal cellular sources in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis and myocardial infarction.

The postdoctoral scientist will be working in a highly collaborative and productive environment, with state-of-the-art infrastructure and excellent opportunities for international networking. Candidates should hold an MD, DVM, or PhD degree, and should have interest in the bone-cardiovascular axis. Experience with experimental myocardial infarction models and transgenic mice is desirable. Approaches used include animal studies, flow cytometry, expression profiling, µ-CT, immunohistology, histomorpho­metry, and echocardiography. Working language is English or German. Salaries will be according to FWF regulations.
